I'm having a bit of a situation that I wondered if someone here could help me out with.
Through a long series of adventures in ren faire garb choices, I find myself about to embark on portraying a Musketeer's Lady this summer and...I know nothing about the period really, aside from costuming links and what wikipedia turned up for me.
It's fairly difficult to find historical references, most of my google searches brought up the same couple paragraphs repasted on different webpages. Does anyone have any links to information about the period as it really was and not the idealized one we get on YB or to some discussions of the differences perhaps?

This is a rewrite of the second Young Blades fic I wrote, which I never posted. It's supposed to be the beginning to a longer story, but with my bad record for completing fanfic I don't know if I'll ever get to it, so I decided to just post this snapshot as it is.
